For more than twenty-five years, Coach John's life has evolved around helping people, young and old, in finding their ways through life. He designed modules and trained speakers. He travelled extensively giving talks, seminars, retreats and personal life coaching. This blog speaks his mind, a product of his love for life.

Walls

heart"What's wrong?" my friend asked, "I said, nothing. It's just that I don't want to bother you anymore with my own problems." To which she replied, "If you're going to shut yourself in, it means that you left me outside, shutting me out of the gate ... where it is cold and dark."

Those words were so picturesque that until now the image is still alive in my mind. Yeah, she's right. Sometimes we thought we are protecting our loved ones from our 'own' harsh 'realities', but we don't. As Dinah Shore said, "Trouble is part of your life, and if you don't share it, you don't give the person who loves you enough chance to love you enough..."

Even the most ferocious dogs allowed themselves to be stroked when they're in pain. Sharing our pains does not only make us feel better, it gives others a chance as well to be better persons.

Father,
We’re grateful for the people you’ve given to us.
Melt our pride and make us more trusting
So that we could be more honest with our feelings,
In that way, we also give others a chance to enter
Into our lives,
In Jesus’ Name.
Amen.
