I always tell my audience: 'everyday, go in front of the mirror,
take a deep breath, and tell that person in front of you: "I love you..." They asked "why?" I answered, "because nobody will." The usual outright response I got from this is laughter. They thought it was one of my antics again. I told them it's not.
It's not narcissism either. Narcissism is rooted in the lack of self-love. The narcissistic person is not actually convinced that he/she is lovable. That's why he/she is obsessed in directing all the attentions towards him/her to fill that vacuum within. Narcissistic people have insatiable appetite for attention.
A well loved person is sufficient, and therefore does not need to beg for attention. As the famous song goes..."learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all..."
