In the past few days, I was surprised with douses of piggy quotations coming in. Pigs are generally less popular creatures, but this time, they impressed me.
The other day, while airing out my impatience for my long planned trip, a friend introduced a strange quotation I never thought existed: "It takes time and patience to make a house of bricks that resists the wind, the rain and the big bad wolf" ~ The Third Little Pig. I was so grateful for the Third Little Pig.
And just this afternoon, just as frustration started to gnaw my hope of helping and coaching some friends about social media and community building, this quote unwittingly crawled into my browsing: "Never try to teach a pig to sing, it only wastes your time and annoys the pig." ~ Unknown. And yes, I think it really annoyed one because it wrestled with me... The whole situation slowly but surely got dirty.
And while thinking of the whole thing, a good old friend from UK posted this: "I learned long ago never to wrestle with a pig. You get dirty, and besides, the pig likes it." ~ Cyrus Ching. Wow, this one really closed the floodgate.
So this week, I learned valuable lessons about pigs: Pigs live in brick houses
Pigs can’t sing
Pigs love dirt
Father in Heaven,
We’re grateful for the douse of inspiration
That you send to console and guide us.
We may be more patient with our imperfections
While being faithful to our commitment
In building the Kingdom of God
In Jesus’ Name.
Amen.
